BHUBANESWAR: There was a respite from the prevailing heat wave condition in Odisha on Saturday as most of places in the state recorded temperature below 40 degree Celsius.

 The highest temperature of 44.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Subarnapur followed by Sundargarh- 41.0 degree, Talcher-40.8 and Bhawanipatna-40.5 degree. All others stations recorded temperature below 40 degree. Temperature Dips In Odisha

The special relief commissioner (SRC) office has confirmed death of 13 persons due to sunstroke.

“In 47 cases out of total 134 reports of alleged deaths due sun-stroke received from different sources, the death has been found to have occurred due to other reasons,” said an official of SRC.

As many as 559 tankers have been engaged and 1252 syntex tanks placed to meet the requirement of water supply in urban areas. Similarly, 1058 tankers have been engaged in rural areas for supply of water in scarcity areas., he added

Besides, 698 mobile vans have been deployed for taking up repair of defunct tube wells in rural areas as well as rural piped water supply projects. 1774 new tube wells have been sunk in partially covered habitations.

Out of 1565 complaints (63 previous unattended complaints + 1502 complaint received during the week) in urban areas, 1444 complaints were solved. 108 complaints were received relating to rural areas out of which 103 complaints have been solved.
