Attack On Union Ministers: BJP Terms RDC Probe ‘Eyewash’

BHUBANESWAR: After Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered an RDC probe into the incident of attack on Union Ministers, the Odisha unit of BJP on Tuesday said the probe order is just an eyewash.

“The inquiry ordered by the state government is just an eyewash. It is an attempt to divert the people’s attention and dilute the issue when facts are available in public domain. Video footage shows that the BJD workers have pelted stones on the Union Ministers,” said BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma.

It was expected that the state government would act and arrest the culprits. But, it sits idle over the issue, he added.

Moreover, he said people have seen the fate of previous inquiries conducted by Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC).

The Chief Minister on Tuesday ordered RDC  (Northern Range) to carry out any inquiry and submit the report within 60 days on the attack on Union Ministers in Bargarh.

Notably, some BJD leaders allegedly pelted stones at Union Ministers Santosh Gangwar and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti’s convoy on June 24. The Ministers were attacked when they were on their way to attend BJP’s Vikas Utsav.
