8 Tourist Police Cells In Odisha


PURI: The Odisha government will set up eight tourist police cells across the state to ensure the safety of tourists during the Rath Yatra in Puri.

Tourism Minister Ashok Panda said the state government is taking various steps for the development of tourism in the state and promotion of Rath Yatra across the world.

Panda said Rs 1 crore has been allocated to the collectors of all districts for setting up of a Tourist Emergency Fund (TEF) to ensure the safety of the tourists.

Speaking about the Rath Yatra arrangements in Puri, he said ten information centres have already been set up at various places for tourists.

Besides, police patrolling system has been initiated in Puri-Satpada and Puri-Konark areas.

Patrolling systems In Puri-Dhauli and Puri-Lingaraj areas will begin shortly, he added.
