Odisha junior engineer nabbed while taking ₹50,000 bribe


The Vigilance official on Tuesday caught a junior engineer (JE) of Bhubaneswar block in Khordha district while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

The accused has been identified as Ramakanta Behera, JE of Bhubaneswar block.

Behera has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor for facilitating release of  his pending bill for a road work executed by him.

The entire bribe money of Rs 50,000 has been recovered from possession of the accused Behera and seized. 

In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station Case No 30 u/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation in progress against the accused Behera, said Vigilance officer.
