Police to seeks 10-day remand of Dhalsamant brothers


CUTTACK: The Commissionerate Police on Saturday said that it would move the court to take the dreaded criminal brothers Sushant and Sushil Dhalsamant on 10-day remand for further interrogation about their activities in several states.

The Dhalsamant brothers have been sent to Choudwar jail after being produced in a court on Friday night. They were arrested from a rented house in Pokhariput area in Bhubaneswar.

The siblings were absconding since 2004 and were staying in cities like Visakhapatnam and Mumbai on fake identities, police sources said.Dhalasamant brothers, dreaded criminals, arrested; political link crops up

Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora said the police would move the court seeking a 10-day remand for the two brothers.

He said the raids are still on at the offices and houses of the brothers at different locations.

Rs 2.65 crore were seized from their possession during raids on Friday. One 9 mm carbine, a double barrel gun along with 150 bullets were seized. As many as 22 bank accounts belonging to the brothers have been traced so far and are being examined by the income tax departments, he added.

Besides, a diary, a laptop and some mobile phones were also recovered during the raid.

Police are investigating the source of their ammunition, the DCP said adding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will be asked to probe their huge money transactions.

The two brothers wanted in various murder, extortion and tender fixing cases in Odisha and outside were arrested from a rented house at Pokhariput in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
