Holi Spirit Dampens As 20 Died, Scores Injured In Odisha


BHUBANESWAR: As many as 20 people died, and over 100 were injured due to road accidents, drowning and other reasons at various places in Odisha dampening the Holi celebration spirit on Thursday.

Police sources said eight persons died of drowning while bathing in rivers and ponds after the celebration of Holi; road accidents claimed 11 lives and scores injured.

Besides, group clashes in Rourkela town claimed one life and injured 20 more people in the evening.

At least six persons including two women and baby killed when an SUV on which they were travelling overturned at Neulapur in Dharmasala of Odisha’s Jajpur district. Two others were injured in the accident.
