Temperature Rises In Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: After a brief lull, mercury has gone up in Odisha throwing normal life out of gear on Saturday. The day temperature has crossed 40 degree Celsius in several towns of the state.

The meteorological department has predicted that the blistering heat wave would continue to prevail in next couple of days.

IMD Bhubaneswar director Sarat Chandra Sahu said the day temperature would rise above 40 degree Celsius in most places in interior and western Odisha in the next 24 hours while the temperature in the coastal Odisha would remain below 40 degree Celsius.

He also informed that there is a possibility of Nor’wester at some places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal districts that may bring some relief to the people reeling under scorching summer.

“Besides, as the wind is flowing at a lower level in the atmosphere, there is a possibility of a hail storm in these places,” said Sahu.
