Deogarh Bus Mishap: Transport Minister Seeks Detailed Report

BHUBANESWAR: Following the death of 27 persons in the Deogarh bus accident, Odisha Transports Minister Ramesh Majhi on Monday asked the Deogarh Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to submit a detailed inquiry report over the incident.

The minister asked the RTO to probe the circumstances that led to the tragic accident.

“Besides, the RTO has been asked to inquire whether the bus has fitness certificate and the driver has a valid licence or not,” said Majhi.

Deogarh SP Sarah Sharma said the police are ascertaining the cause of the tragic incident.

Meanwhile, an injured admitted to the district headquarters hospital said a casual driver was driving the bus on that ill-fated evening.

Notably, at least 27 people were killed and 11 injured when a bus carrying 38 people of Bharati Gananatya fell down the Tilaebani Gaelo ghat road into a 300 feet gorge in Deogarh district on Sunday evening.
