Keonjhar Admin Starts Demolishing Champua MLA’s Illegal Construction

KEONJHAR: The Keonjhar district administration on Friday started demolishing the construction done by Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud on encroached five acres of land in Uchabali Mouza under Barbil Tehsil amid the presence of security personnel.

The district administration has clamped Section 144 of CrPC within a 500 metres radius of the construction site while 25 platoons of forces have been deployed to avert law and order situation. Keonjar Collector, SP and other officials are present at the spot to oversee the demolition activities.

Sources said Mahakud had kept the land under possession since 1980 in the name of a trust.

However, the MLA’s house and office, which is spread over 1 acre and 20 decimals of land, will not be evicted as Sanatan has got a stay order from Orissa High Court.

Mahakud was also present during the eviction drive.

“I have come to visit the place as the local MLA. I have nothing to say about the eviction drive being undertaken by the district administration,” he said.
