BHUBANESWAR: Severe heat wave continued across Odisha with capital city Bhubaneswar recording 45.3 degree Celsius on Thursday. The scorching heat wave disrupted normal life across the state.
Temperature has increased in coastal Odisha while the met department has sounded a severe heat wave in the region. Temperature recorded above 43 degree Celsius at 10 places and above 40 degree Celsius at 18 places in the state.
With the rising heat wave in Bhubaneswar, the city wore a deserted look throughout the day as people preferred to remain in houses to beat the heat. Autorickshaw drivers were seen taking shelter after parking their autorickshaw under trees.
Bhubaneswar met department director Sarat Chandra Sahu said coastal Odisha would continue to experience increase temperature in coming days while temperature in interior parts would come down by 3-4 degrees Celsius.
He also predicted light rainfall in some parts of the region since last two days.
The state government has received 119 alleged deaths due to sunstroke while it has confirmed death of nine persons due to sunstroke.
