ROURKELA: The chief security officer of Rourkela-based National Institute of Technology (NIT) has been suspended, who is accused of sexually abusing his subordinate female staff inside the campus.
NIT Director Sunil Kumar Sarangi on Friday informed that chief security officer Balaram Champatiray had been suspended over the sexual harassment issue.
Notably, a five-member fact-finding team on Thursday started investigating into the sexual abuse charges levelled against the chief security officer.
The students of NIT had staged a demonstration on Wednesday demanding the resignation of the security officer for sexually exploiting his subordinate female staff.
The security officer was caught on camera while allegedly sexually abusing his subordinate female security personnel in his office.
