One-sided Lover Killed Girl’s Uncle In Khurdha


KHURDHA: A one-sided love affair took an ugly turn when a youth allegedly killed the uncle of a girl he was in love with in Jatni area of Khurdha district in Odisha.

The incident occurred at Taraboi village on Wednesday night.

Sudhansu Mishra, the owner of a drug store, was allegedly attacked by Biswajit Mohapatra alias Bapu, with a machete leading to his death. The accused was in love with the deceased’s niece, said sources.

Sources said since the girl’s family arranged her marriage with another person, Bapu allegedly decided to vent his anger.

Mishra was in his drugstore at Taraboi market when Bapu came to the store with a machete at 9 pm and allegedly attacked him. Mishra sustained grievous injuries on his head and collapsed.

Later, villagers rushed him to the district headquarters hospital. Afterwards, doctor shifted him to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was declared dead there.

The death triggered tension in the village. As a result, hundreds of villagers blocked the main road by burning tyres on Thursday.

The agitators demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. They called off the agitation after the police assured to capture the guilty at the earliest.

The accused is the son of a police officer, sources said.
