Attack On Union Ministers: Transfer Of RDC Raises Eyebrows

BHUBANESWAR: The transfer of Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Northern) has raised many eyebrows over the sincerity of the Odisha government to inquiry into the attack on Union Ministers in Bargarh recently.

The state government has appointed NBS Rajput as the new Commissioner of Land Records and Settlement Commissioner. He was RDC (Northern).

It had announced that the RDC would inquiry into the attack on Union Ministers and submit the report within 60 days. But, the government transferred Rajput and did not appoint any officer to replace him.

The Odisha unit of BJP sees the move to derail the probe process.

“Where are we heading to? Failed to give protection to two Central Minister, rather facilitated assault on them at Bargarh in the presence of police. Celebrated the humiliation in an uncivilised manner, Odisha never witnessed,” said BJP national secretary Suresh Pujari on his Facebook post.

He also accused the state government of concealing the report prepared jointly by Collector and Bargarh S.P.

It had ordered the RDC probe to conduct an inquiry into the and submit a report within 60days. But, within three days, it transferred the RDC N.B.S. Rajput without a substitute apprehending unfavourable report,” said Pujari.

He pointed out that the government is searching a favourable officer for posting as RDC, Sambalpur so that he will put his signature on the dotted lines of a pre-prepared report.

Notably, some BJD leaders allegedly pelted stones at the cavalcade of Union Ministers Santosh Gangwar and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti when they were on their way to attend BJP’s Vikas Ustav in Bargarh recently.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Governor SC Jamir had directed the state government to take action against the culprits.
