Odisha Parba 2017 in New Delhi to showcase rich culture of state


Bhubaneswar: From the mouth-watering delicacies to the enchanting dance forms and live demonstration of primitive arts and handicrafts, people will get a glimpse of Odisha’s rich tradition and culture at Odisha Parba 2017 to be held in New Delhi.

Odia Samaj is going to organise “Odisha Parba 2017” in Delhi from April 29 to May 1 to showcase the rich heritage of Odisha, display colourful cultural forms and exhibit the vibrant socio cultural and political ethos of the state.

The Parba will be organised at August Kranti Udyan ‘A’ at India Gate Lawns, in New Delhi.

Typical Odia cuisine including Raghu Dahibara from Cuttack, Dilbahar Lassi from Buxi Bazar, Cuttack, Atmaram Sweets from Cuttack, Kendrapada Rasabali, Odia Thali by Odisha Hotel, Cuttack Baramaza will be available at the food court.

The stalls on handlooms and handicrafts to showcase various crafts and weaves of Odisha plus live demonstration of making of Dhokra, Applique, Stone Sculpture, Patachitra, Palm leaf etching, Papier Mache, handloom weaving, and sand art by top ranking artisans will be also available on display at this event.

Dance and music shows on Odisha’s various traditional folk, Odissi, fusion, contemporary dance forms will be performed by eminent artists in the evening during the three-day event.

Attractions at the event:

  • The entire event will comprise exhibitions, food courts, performances, dance shows by troupes, etc.
  • Traditional style of Food Courts resembling village haats – Authentic Odia cuisine cooked by native cooks from Odisha (Raghu Dahibara from Cuttack, Dilbahar Lassi from Buxi Bazar, Cuttack, Atmaram Sweets from Cuttack, Kendrapada Rasabali, Odia Thali)
  • Grand Stage will be set up where inauguration of the event, performances and dances from artists of Odisha will be held.
  • Exhibition on glorious history and cultural heritage of the state of Odisha to be showcased.
  • Exhibition will have a Haat section showcasing weaving and handloom works of Odisha by local artisans and the same can also be bought. The Haat will also feature “Paridhaan Utsav” a fashion show for promoting the traditional clothes and designs by native weavers.
  • A well decorated Bhagbat Tungi will be on display.
  • Entrance will be made grand by erecting an artistic gate with 3 separate entry ways.
  • 52 ft high replica of Rath used in Puri Rath Yatra (Car Festival) will be displayed just inside the entrance gate. The replica will be made to look exactly similar by using same materials, body part, steps and processes as used in the original.
  • An exclusive stall will be set up for counter selling of the Sukhili Bhog (Dried Prasad like Khaja) from Jagannath Temple, Puri.
  • Digital signature wall and selfie point are another point of attractions at the event.
  • Prominent artists and personalities of Odisha will participate and deliver speeches in the event.
  • Sand Art on the concept Puri Beach Recreated: Sudarsan Patnaik will showcase his artworks on sand in a separate space allocated.
  • Release of a Souvenir book – ‘Mo Odisha’
  • Above 350 artisans to help in construction of the entire infrastructure of the mega event.
