SOA students protest over fake offer letters


Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at the campus of the Siksha O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University as hundreds of students and their parents staged protest alleging that fake job offer letters were issued to the candidates through campus recruitment.

The students alleged that they returned home with great disappointment when they found the offer letters were fake.

The issue came to light after the students selected through various campus recruitment process at ITER, Bhubaneswar, were snubbed by the respective companies including Huawei, Mitsubishi etc.

A platoon of police was deployed in the campus to avoid untoward situation.

However, the varsity authorities have assured the irate students to place them in suitable companies.

“The SOA University is extremely saddened in learn that some of our placed graduates for the following organisations HAUWEI, IRCON Construction, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, MITUBISHI ELECTRIC, HONEYWELL, TOSHIBA, MAGNETI MARELLI, SUPERTECH LTD and INTEL have unfortunately became the victims of fake imposters who had no legitimate connections with these companies,” said SOA in a statement.

We have initiated appropriate legal action, the varsity said.

The deemed university has offered compensation to the victims by offering interim alternatives — monthly anticipatory support of Rs 20,000 as teaching assistant in their respective programmes for maximum period of one year or till the students get a job, the entire course fee to be borne by the university for the students who wish to pursue M.Tech degree at ITER in their respective discipline, the university will bear the course fee for the students who wish to join MBA at IBCS in their desired specializations.

The students have been offered to choose any one of the above mentioned options.
