Bhubaneswar: Odisha girl Mita Hansda will be in the newly-raised all-woman bikers’ contingent of Border Security Force (BSF) for the Republic parade to be held in New Delhi.

Mita Hansda of Dhenkanal district got selected in the 27-member BSF women ‘daredevils’ team.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said Mita Hansda is the embodiment of women power and their capabilities in every field.

“Delighted to know Odisha girl Mita Hansda will be in @BSF_India women’s daredevil biker team ‘Seema Bhavani’ that will make its debut in #RepublicDay parade on Rajpath this year. She is the embodiment of our women power & their capabilities in every field. My best wishes to her,” tweeted Patnaik.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also congratulated her.

“Glad to know that Mita Hansda of Dhenkanal district in Odisha is a part of the 27-member @BSF_India women ‘daredevils’ team ‘Seema Bhavani’ which is going to be a major attraction of the #RepublicDay parade. My best wishes to her & her team,” tweeted Pradhan.

The BSF women team will exhibit their stunts and acrobatics on their 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles. The all-woman squad has been named as ‘Seema Bhavani’ and have been selected from various combat ranks of the force.

The women daredevil bikers’ squad was raised by the country’s largest border guarding force last year, on the lines of their much-acclaimed male counterparts.
