Process begins for holding election to civic bodies in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has begun the process of holding the election to civic bodies as it asked all district collectors to complete delimitation of wards and reservation of seats by April 30 this year.

The government asked district collectors to complete ward delimitation and seat reservation process of at least 90 urban local bodies (ULB) by April 30.

These 90 ULBs would go to poll during September-December, 2018, said sources.

In a letter, Director Municipal Administration, Sangramjit Nayak said that the notification for delimitation of wards and reservation of seats should be published by March 8.

Any appeals should be heard and completed by April 25, and the final notification must be issued in compliance with the Odisha Municipal Act on April 30, he added.
