Bhubaneswar: Normal life affected in Bhawanipatna as the agitation against the scrutiny of outside candidates for 1,607 Siksha Sahayak posts in Kalahandi district entered the third day on Wednesday.
Thousands of youths under the banner of CT-BE d Unemployed Association, Kalahandi have kept the National Highway 26 blocked by burning tyres at different places in Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters town of Kalahandi.
Due to Rasta Roko, vehicular movement in the town has been severely affected as hundreds of buses, trucks and other vehicles have stranded on roadsides. Passengers have been facing problems in moving to their respective destinations.
It may be noted that on the first day of scrutiny on Monday, the authorities stopped scrutinising documents of outside candidates seeking recruitment against 1607 Siksha Sahayak posts notified for the district.
The local candidates demanded that they be recruited to the Siksha Sahayak posts on a priority basis and opposed the scrutiny of documents of the outside candidates.
However, on the second day on Tuesday, the authorities scrutinised the documents of outside candidates seeking to be recruited for the post.
While today is the last day of scrutiny, the local candidates intensified the agitation.
