Nilgiri College declared sine die due to student unrest

Bhubaneswar: The Nilgiri College in Odisha’s Balasore district has been declared sine die as student unrest erupted in the institute over the holding of a cultural programme.

The Nilgiri College students’ union president and secretary opposed to the scheduled cultural programme, which was to be held by culture secretary.

The student union president and the secretary demanded that Principal cancel the cultural programme.

“It is disappointing that the Principal declared the college sine die instead of cancelling the cultural programme. The college needs to remain open as exam days are coming,” said students’ union president.

The students who went to the college this morning started coming back home as the college gate was locked.

Adequate police have been deployed in the college to ensure that no untoward incident happens in the college.
