All Odisha School and College Teachers’ and Employees’ Forum to hold Mahasamavesh

Odisha school, college teachers, employees to hold Mahasamavesh

Bhubaneswar: The All Odisha School and College Teachers’ and Employees’ Forum on Friday decided to organise a Mahasamavesh in Bhubaneswar on February 19 after discussion between the forum and the state government failed to break the deadlock.

The All Odisha School and College Teachers’ and Employees’ Forum is a protesting against the state government rule that makes it mandatory for teachers and employees to submit an affidavit before the government declaring that they would withdraw all court cases against the government and not move court against the government in the future if they wish to avail themselves of grant-in-aid (GIA) facilities.

Last week, Higher Education Minister Anant Das had warned the agitators against violating government service conduct rule by staging demonstration at Lower PMG here and giving statements against the state government.

Despite the warning, the agitators are sitting on a dharna at the lower PMG here.

Even the agitating teachers threatened to boycott the ensuing Matric and Plus II examinations if the government fails to give them a written assurance of withdrawal of the new rule of the affidavit.

The affidavit though promises to give financial benefits, also prevents teachers and employees from staging any kind of protests in future and also debarred them from knocking the door of the court of law for justice.
