BJD stages protest over shoe attack on Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday staged dharna under the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Janta Maidan here protesting against the shoe attack on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The BJD activists demanded stringent action against the hooliganism and violence made by Bharatiya Janata Party workers.

Notably, one youth on Tuesday hurled shoes at the Chief Minister at Barpali while Patnaik was addressing a gathering in by-poll bound Bijepur assembly constituency in Bargarh district on Tuesday evening.

They condemned the attack on the Chief Minister and attacked the opposition BJP for orchestrating the shoe attack as they fear of defeat in the polls.

Meanwhile, a BJD delegation led by Maheswar Mohanty met DGP RP Sharma demanding stern action against the culprit.
