Businessman attacked, looted of Rs 5 lakh in Balasore

Bhubaneswar: A medicine businessman was critically injured after some miscreants attacked him with a dagger while looting him of Rs 5 lakh in Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at Nahara Chhak under Bhograi block.

The injured businessman, identified as Pradeep Ranjan Das, was first rushed to a nearby hospital. But he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated.

According to reports, Pradeep was returning home with Rs 5 lakh when miscreants intercepted him at Nahara Chhack. The looters asked him to hand over the cash bag. As Pradipta protested, they attacked him with a dagger and snatched away the money bag from him.

Hearing him screaming, some locals rushed to the spot and took him to a hospital.

Family members have lodged a complaint at the Karmada police station in this regard. The police have started an investigation.
