Rs.350.52 crore sanctioned for road connectivity in Malkangiri, Koraput


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sanctioned 29 projects estimated around Rs.350.52 crore for road connectivity in Malkangiri and Koraput districts.

The projects were sanctioned in the 1st governing body meeting of the newly constituted Odisha State Rural Connectivity Project Agency (OSRCPA) held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here recently.

Giving nod to the projects, Padhi directed the department to expedite the processes of tender, award of work and complete the project before the scheduled time.

Padhi also directed to ensure the quality of the construction through regular check and monitoring.

Available data showed that 13 roads in Boipariguda, Koraput, Lamatapur, Nrayanpatana, and Semiliguda blocks of Koraput district estimated around Rs 102.38 crore and 16  roads in Kalimela, Khairaput, Korukunda, Kudumuluguma, Malkangiri, Mathili and Podia blocks of Malkangiri district estimated around Rs.350.51 crore were approved by OSRPCA.

The projects would be implemented with fund support from central and state governments on 60:40 sharing basis.

It may be pertinent here to mention that OSRPCA has been constituted recently under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary. The main objective of the society is to provide seamless road connectivity in the left wing extremism areas of the state.

The society assesses the ground level road requirement through the district unit. The road projects are finally sanctioned by the state and the central governments.
