Students walk 18 km to meet Sub-Collector in Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: Demanding immediate transfer of the school headmistress, around 250 students of Tota Girls’ Residential School walked around 18 km to meet Karanjia Sub-Collector in Mayurbhanj district.

The students alleged that they were being subjected to mental harassment by the headmistress.

As repeated requests to the concerned authorities failed to yield any result, the aggrieved students decided to take up the matter with the Sub-Collector.

Students of the residential school have been facing a lot of difficulties due to apathetic attitude of the headmistress, they alleged.

The students alleged that though nearly 200 girls are pursuing study in the school, food is being prepared for a mere 70-80 students daily causing inconvenience for them.

They were being deprived of basic amenities in the residential school and hostel, they alleged.

Unable to bear the trauma, the girls finally decided to take up the matter with the higher authorities and walked around 18 km to reach the Karanjia Sub-Collector’s office seeking justice.
