Odisha Asha workers to get Rs 2,000 assured remuneration


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday announced an assured monthly remuneration of Rs 2,000 for Asha workers in the state.

More than 47,000 Asha Karmis will be benefitted by remuneration scheme. It will cost the state exchequer an additional burden of Rs 157 crore.

The regular perks, which the Asha Karmis are receiving, will continue as per the ongoing schedule.

The government has also initiated a scheme ‘Asha Matrutwa Yojana’ under which the Asha workers who are expecting will be given a financial assistance of Rs 1,000 for six months, said Health Minister Pratap Jena.

This amount will be provided between the seventh month of pregnancy and for three months post delivery, he added.

The State Government has allocated Rs 56.52 lakh for implementing the ‘Asha Matrutwa Yojana.’
