OHPC provides Rs 27.26 crore dividend to Odisha Govt


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Hydro Power Corporation (OHPC) on Tuesday paid a dividend of Rs 27.26 crore to the state government for the year 2016-17.

OHPC has made a post-tax profit of Rs 90.87 crore in 2016-17.

Energy Minister Sushant Singh and department secretary Hemant Sharma handed over a cheque to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as the dividend to state government.

OHPC CMD Vishal Dev and Director Finance Pravakar Mohanty were also present. It may be mentioned here that the OHPC generates about 20 percent of the state’s power requirement in general, and during peak hours, it generates about 40 percent of the energy demand.

It has six Power Generating Stations having 31 units. RM &U works are in progress in three power houses at a cost of Rs 600 crore, said a statement.
