PM, CM greet people on Utkal Dibasa


Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday greeted people on the occasion of Utkal Dibasa.

Prime Minister greeted the people in Odia language through micro-blogging site Twitter.

Utkal Dibasa is celebrated to mark the formation of Odisha, whісh wаѕ carved out οf combined Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province on April 1, 1936.

The special state was formed by the efforts of many legendary persons like Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das, Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati, Pandit Nilakantha Das, Godabarish Mishra, Harekrushna Mahtab to name a few.

To mark the auspicious occasion, the State Government and various Government and private organisations are holding different competition and cultural programmes across the State.

In the capital city here, all Government and private buildings have been decorated with colourful lights. While a State-level programme has been planned by the Government, the Utkal Sammilani and various language bodies are celebrating the day in a very religious day.
