Minor Salipur rape victim dies at SCB Medical College and Hospital


Bhubaneswar: A six-year-old rape survivor from Salipur, undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack died after struggling with life for around nine days on Sunday.

The girl was undergoing treatment at the trauma care ICU of paediatric ward. She succumbed to her injuries, informed medical superintendent Shyama Kanungo.

The girl was admitted in critical condition to SCB Medical College and Hospital after she was found unconscious in a school compound in Salipur area of Cuttack on April 21 night.

Accused Mohammad Mustaq had been arrested in the case, police said.

The girl was reported missing after she went to a shop near Jagannathpur Nodal Upper Primary school to buy chocolates around 6 p.m. on April 21. As she did not return home, her family searched for her but to no avail.

“While the accused has been arrested, we will ensure that he gets stringent punishment for raping and murdering the minor,” said a police official.
