Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has asked all district collectors to call a meeting of the district level committee on natural calamities by May 25 in their respective districts.
Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi has asked all collectors to call the meeting.
He requested all collectors to send the minutes of the meeting to his department, well before the flood preparedness review meeting with Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) and District Emergency Officers (DEOs) scheduled on May 29.
The meeting of the district level committee on natural calamities is convened in May to review precautionary measures taken or proposed to be taken against possible floods, stocking of foodstuff in advance in the interior, vulnerable, strategic and key areas and review of other programmes of work in progress, if any.
These meetings precede the meeting of the state-level committee on natural calamities, likely to be held in the first/second week of June.
