Governor advises Vice Chancellors to improve universities’ research activities


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor and Chancellor of State Universities Satya Pal Mallik on Tuesday met the vice-chancellors of 17 universities at Raj Bhawan here.

The Governor stressed the need to improve research activities to provide quality education to students and to conduct examinations on time.

The Governor asked all the VCs to check campus indiscipline and violence. A discussion was also held on the conduct of examinations, publication of results, academic exchange programme, distribution of certificates, filing up of vacant posts in universities, functioning of placement cell, internship programmes, setting up of sports complex in all the universities and maintenance of discipline inside the campuses.

The Chancellor is learnt to have asked the VCs to ensure that universities become a safe place for learning and intellectual growth; and not a battleground or safety hazard.

The Chancellor also urged upon the academicians to think globally and gain strength from the power of collective endeavour.

Ministers and Secretaries of various departments, including Finance, Agriculture, Health, Culture, Revenue, Higher Education and Sports and Youth Affairs participated in the meeting.
