IMD predicts heavy rain in coastal, southern Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Centre (IMD) on Wednesday predicted heavy rains in several parts of the coastal and southern areas of Odisha in the next 48 hours.

The IMD said a cyclonic circulation has formed in the north-west-central area of the Bay of Bengal.

It is most likely to intensify into a low-pressure system in the next 48 hours, the IMD said.

The temperature in most parts of western Odisha and other places will come down after June 8 due to the advancing monsoon.

The IMD also warned of thunderstorm accompanied by gusty surface winds and lightning in 16 districts.

The districts are Gajapati, Ganjam, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Puri, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada.
