Judicial probe into Ratna Bhandar missing key: Terms of reference released

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday notified terms of reference (ToR) of Commission of Inquiry to probe Jagannath Temple Ratna Bhandar missing key row.

The commission will examine the sequence of events and circumstances leading to the reported non-availability of the keys of the inner chamber of the Ratna Bhandar.

It will also probe the role, conduct and accountability of individuals/groups/authorities and any other matter connected with or incidental thereto as the Commission may consider appropriate including measures to be taken to avoid recurrence of such event in future.

“The Headquarters of the Commission shall be at Bhubaneswar. However, the Commission may hold the inquiry at Puri or any other place as may be considered necessary for the purpose,” said the notification issued by the Home department.

On June 6, the state government appointed Raghubir Das, a retired justice of Orissa High Court, as the chairman of the judicial commission, to probe the circumstances leading to mysterious loss of the keys of Jagannath temple’s inner Ratna Bhandar (treasury).
