Naveen forms ministerial committee for Odia film industry development


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday formed a ministerial committee for the development of Odia film industry.

The committee will be headed by finance minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, said a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.

It would submit a report to the state government in one month regarding steps to be taken for development of Odia film industry.

The state government will prepare the Odia film policy based on the report.

MSME minister Prafulla Samal and Industries minister Anant Das will be members of the committee. Industries secretary will be the convener.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday discussed the several issues relating to Odia film industry and Kalinga Studio.

Notably, the Odia film industry is not getting adequate support from the state government for the promotion of the industry. Besides, the state government is yet to revive the Kalinga Stadium located on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Odisha Film Development Corporation Chairman Kuna Tripathy, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan and senior officials were present during the meeting.
