Commissionerate Police launches traffic portal to help commuters


Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Monday launched a traffic web portal to make the denizens aware of traffic rules and regulations.

It also introduced Variable Message Sign (VMS) to disseminate a host of information to commuters/motorists and for public convenience during road blockade.

Commissioner of Police YB Khurania launched the initiatives in the presence of Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo and Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh and also many senior police officials.

All information relating to road safety and traffic rules will be available in this web portal.

“In order to create awareness among the mass on the road safety issues, this web portal has been launched by the Commissionerate Police Traffic Wing. Its URL is bhubaneswar-cuttacktrafficpolice.in. All information relating to road safety and laws has been provided in this web portal,” said Khurania.

The website has seven chapters – Traffic Congestion, Feedback and Contact Forms, Learning Signs and Symbol, Learning Rules and Regulations, Student Traffic Volunteer Scholarship Scheme Form Download and Prepaid Auto Prices and Test Your Skills.

“It is also an interactive website. After each chapter, there is a quiz. Those who are browsing our web portal can test their respective IQ level on traffic,” said Khurania.

For the first time, the Commissionerate police also introduced cooling jacket for traffic personnel to lower physical discomfort. By wearing it, 10-12 degree centigrade temperature will get slashed.

And as many as 16 TVS Apache 160 CC motorbikes were given away to the male traffic personnel for Traffic PCR patrolling duty.
