Odisha govt announces additional Rs 5 cr for flood affected Kerala


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced additional financial assistance of Rs 5 Crores for Kerala from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund ( CMRF).

This is in addition to the 5 crores sanctioned earlier.

Besides, Naveen Patnaik also ordered 500 MT of Polythene Sheets worth about 8 Crores to be sent to Kerala.

244 Fire Service Personnel trained in rescue operations with 65 rescue boats and other equipments have been sent to Kerala to help the rescue operations.

Patnaik stated that people of Odisha stand by the flood affected people of Kerala at this hour of severe distress. He expressed deep condolences for the lives lost.

“Odisha knows what a natural calamity of this magnitude means to the common man”

He has further directed the Relief Commissioner of Odisha to remain in touch with the authorities and extend all the help to the people from Odisha stranded in Kerala.

Labour Department of Odisha has already rushed officials to Kerala to ensure the safety of Odia labourers affected by floods.
