Asian Games 2018: Cash rewards for women hockey players from Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday announced a cash reward of Rs 1 crore each to Sunita Lakra, Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz and Deep Grace Ekka after the Women’s National Hockey Team won the Silver in Asian Games 2018.

He also announced that the coach will get an award equivalent to 20 per cent of the reward for medal winners.

In recognition of the achievements of the players from Odisha in the Indian Women’s Hockey Team, the Chief Minister announced the cash award as per the revised sports policy.

He also congratulated the Indian Women’s Hockey team on winning the silver medal in Asian Games, 2018 in Indonesia.

The team has played in the final of the Asian Games after a gap of twenty years.

Odisha is the proud sponsor of the Indian National Hockey Team. The state has always promoted hockey and is also the host of the World Men’s Hockey Cup, 2018.
