2 killed, 20 injured after tourist bus collides with truck in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: At least two persons were killed and 20 others injured when a tourist bus hit a truck from the rear in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, said police on Sunday.

The accident took place near Charampa in the wee hours on Sunday night when a group of pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh were on their way to the Jagannath temple in Puri.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Sagar Yadav, the driver and Shibnarayan Pati, a passenger of the bus.

The bus named ‘Amit’ had as many as 50 pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh on-board when the incident occurred at around 2:30 am in the night on the National Highway.

The driver of the bus lost control and rammed the rear of a bamboo-laden truck, said sources.

The injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
