Odisha Governor appeals for expediting relief work in cyclone, flood affected areas


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal on Monday urged the government to expedite relief operation and assistance to Titli cyclone and flood victims.

He also expressed his deepest condolences over the loss of lives following a landslide in Gajapati district describing the tragic incident as unfortunate.

Severe floods resulting from heavy rainfall post cyclonic storm Titli have wrecked havoc in Odisha, causing casualties, loss of property and homelessness.

Along with restoring the supply of drinking water, road connectivity and restoration of power supply that are among the immediate concerns, there is also an urgent need to closely monitor the situation to avert the outbreak of any water-borne diseases by the health department, said the Governor.

Governor asked all concerned departments to work in coordination with each other at this time of crisis and take every step to mitigate untold miseries suffered by people in flood-affected areas and for bringing normalcy in all these areas.
