New regional party to counter ruling BJD: Rout

Bhubaneswar: Former BJD leader Damodar Rout on Wednesday said that he will soon form a new regional party to fight against the gross misrule and corruption of the BJD government.

Rout said the party will follow the principles and ideologies of former chief minister late Biju Patnaik. He, however, denied possibility of an alliance with any other political party.

“A meeting will be held on this issue on November 9 and 10 after which a formal announcement would be made on November 11 and 12. The objective of the new regional party will be to strongly oppose the ruling BJD which has deviated from the ideals of the legendary leader Biju Patnaik,” Rout said.

He said the state government is against formation of a new regional party and is trying to create dissension among the leaders who are keen to join him.
