PM Modi wishes teams participating in Hockey Men’s World Cup


Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has welcomed and wished the 16 teams, which will fight for Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 at Kalinga Stadium here.

The Hockey World Cup 2018 is all set to kick off on Wednesday.

“A warm welcome and best wishes to all teams participating in the Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018, being held in Odisha. I am sure this tournament will be a treat for sports lovers and will also be an opportunity to discover India’s and especially Odisha’s culture. @FIH_Hockey,” tweeted the Prime Minister.

The tournament opener will be played on Wednesday when Belgium will play Canada. In the second match, India will face South Africa.

An opening ceremony took place in the Kalinga stadium on Tuesday.

Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and music maestro AR Rahman enthralled the audience in the opening ceremony.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan expressed his gratitude to Odisha and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for warm welcome and love at the mega international event.
