PM praises Odisha for Men’s Hockey World Cup


Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modion Monday praised the people of Odisha for their warmth and hospitality duringthe Men’s Hockey World Cup at the Kalinga Stadium here.

“Kudos to all those who worked hard toensure the 2018 Hockey World Cup is a resounding success.Congratulations to the people and Government of Odisha for their warmth and hospitality,” tweeted thePrime Minister.

He said the Hockey World Cup in Odisha has been a treat for sports lovers.

“It was characterised by iconic matches,exceptional individual performances and wonderful team efforts. The tournament has also enhanced the popularity of hockey among the people of India,especially the youth,” said the Prime Minister.

Belgium lifted their maiden field hockey World Cup title after edging out the Netherlands 3-2 in a dramatic penaltyshoot out at Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday.
