Journalist attacked inside cinema hall for opposing lewd remarks


Bhubaneswar: A journalist of an Odia daily was allegedly attacked at Maharaja Cinema hall here for opposing a group of Utkal University students who were passing lewd and vulgar comments on women inside the hall.
The victim, identified as Kapilendra Pradhan working for an Odia daily Prameya, sustained multiple injuries. He was admitted to Capital Hospital and discharged after primary treatment.
Pradhan in a complaint filed with Saheed Nagar police alleged that he was beaten up by a group of 10-12 students of Utkal University inside the movie hall when he asked them to stop passing vulgar comments on women watching the film.
He alleged that he was trying to stop the boys from passing vulgar comments on women who were watching a film.
The accused also took away the identity card and gold chain of Pradhan. Surprisingly, neither the audiences nor cinema hall staff intervened in the matter.
