Cancer Hospital and Research Centre to come up in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the Odisha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre to be set up with the help of Tata Trust at Ratagarh in Baranga.

The foundation stone of the cancer hospital was laid in the presence of Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts.

“The state government has provided 15 acres of land for free of cost for the project. The first phase of the Centre will be commissioned in a year’s time,” the CM said.

The Odisha government had in May last year signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Trusts, Mumbai to set up the state-of-the-art cancer hospital and research centre.

Tata Trusts will set up and manage the cancer treatment facility and it will be benchmarked to the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

The Odisha government will facilitate and contribute in setting up the centre by providing land to the extent of 15 acres free of cost, official sources said.
