Bhubaneswar: Sunita Biswal, daughter of former Odisha Chief Minister Hemananda Biswal, joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) here on Saturday.
Sunita, working president of Sundargarh district Congress, joined the BJD along with hundreds of her supporters in presence of party president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas here.
“I am glad that Smt. Sunita Biswal, daughter of former chief minister Hemananda Biswal has joined our party along with her supporters. I welcome them to the party. I am sure they will strengthen the BJD further,” Patnaik said.
Sources said she is likely to contest from Sundargarh Lok Sabha constituency.
Sunita said she has joined the BJD without any condition after being inspired by Naveen Patnaik and will accept whatever decision the party chief takes regarding tickets to contest polls.
Presently, Hemananda Biswal is chairman
of PCC disciplinary committee.
