Salepur MLA Prakash Behera quits Congress, likely to join BJP

Bhubaneswar: In a jolt to the Odisha Congress, sitting Salepur MLA Prakash Behera resigned from the primary membership of the party on Saturday.

In a letter to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Behera said that after remaining in the party for the past 20 years, he decided to quit as he was ignored by the state party leadership.

The Congress leader said he was humiliated time and again after being removed as DCC President of Cuttack district.

“My grievance was not considered duly by the PCC. I have worked in Congress for last 20 years but the party has neglected me of late,” he wrote in the letter.

Behera is most likely to join the BJP soon, said sources.
