Bhubaneswar: The flying squad of Election Commission on Wednesday seized Rs 27.49 lakh from an unregistered Audi car at Mahipani Square under Bisra police station near Rourkela in Sundargarh district.
Police sources said the unaccounted cash was found from the luxury car during a vehicle check.
The driver of a numberless car threw a bag containing the cash and fled from the spot, sources said.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the driver and two persons travelling in the car and started an investigation to ascertain the sources of the cash.
In another incident, the Election Commission flying squad on Wednesday seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 2 lakh from the vehicle of BJD candidate from Lanjigarh Assembly seat Pradeep Dishari, near Jayapatna area in Kalahandi district.
CEO office said the flying squad has
seized Rs 2.31 crore cash and liquors worth Rs Rs 3.31 crore so far from
various places in the state.
