Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to ply electric-powered buses in three cities to promote clean and green energy and curb vehicular pollution.

Science and Technology Minister Ashok Panda told the Assembly on Saturday that the electric buses will operate within the radius of 100 km radius in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.

“We will start operating electric buses within 100 km range in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri,” said Panda.

A draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been circulated among all stakeholders while the MoU will be signed soon for running electric-powered buses in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri.

Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) is planning to induct electric buses as part of upgradation plan, said sources.
