BJD membership drive targets 1 crore enrollment


Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal(BJD) is expecting to enrol 1 crore members into the party fold during the membership drive scheduled to begin from Monday.

“We have set a target to double our membership during the two months campaign which is coming to an end on October 31”, said Debi Prasad Mishra, the chairmen of the BJD’s State-level Committee to monitor membership drive.

“While we are targeting to double our members, it may touch 1 crore by the end of the drive, said a membership drive Committee member.

Presently, the BJD has now 47 lakh members.

There is a target to double the enrollment during BJD membership drive and for the first time, Aadhaar linking of all members will be done, informed senior party leader Subhash Singh.

BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Sunday chaired the party’s extended executive committee meeting and laid down a road map for the membership drive.

As per the strategy, each Ward, NAC, Municipality and Municipal Corporation will have 4, 5, 15 and 40 active members respectively who will enrol members. The members Adhar Card will be seeded to the membership.
