Bhubaneswar airport to remain closed for eight months!

Bhubaneswar: The flight operation is going to be affected at the Bhubaneswar airport for eight months as the airport authorities have decided to carry out the runway recarpeting.

The flight services are likely to be rescheduled as the re-carpeting work of the airport’s runway will be taken up from November. The re-carpeting of the runway was last taken up at Biju Patnaik airport in 2007.

“We are planning for Runway recarpeting with effect from 1st November to 31st March from 10 pm to 5.30 am. We have requested DGCA for permission. This means there will be a closure during this period in the night and airlines have to reschedule,” informed Bhubaneswar airport director Suresh Chandra Hota.

Hota said that flight operations during daytime at the airport will be suspended from April 1 to June 30, 2020 (10:30 AM to 6 PM).

The airlines have been intimated about the plans by Airport Authority of India (AAI) headquarters.
