AirAsia to operate more flights from Bhubaneswar airport

AirAsia suspends Bhubaneswar-Bangkok international flight

Bhubaneswar: AirAsia has temporarily suspended its international flight operation from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok, informed an official on Friday.

Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) director Suresh Chandra Hota informed that they have received a letter regarding the temporary suspension of Bhubaneswar-Bangkok international flight by AirAsia.

The Air Asia flight operations between BPIA and Thailand capital will be suspended from September 25, 2019.

AirAsia has informed the BPIA about temporary suspension of international flights to Bangkok from Bhubaneswar, said Hota.

Air Asia, the Malaysian low-cost airline headquartered near Kuala Lumpur, had launched direct flight services from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok in December last year.

Presently, 39 flights are operating from and to Bhubaneswar. However, Bhubaneswar-Bangkok is the only international direct flight.

Recently, the state government had requested the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to start direct flight from Bhubaneswar to Dubai.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also wrote a letter to the Civil Aviation Minister for direct flight between Bhubaneswar airport and Dubai.
